Observing Or Being Observed

Always questionable ? Are being men also observed as they observe women ? Do men notice that they are being observe ? Last week Vittori Swimwear started advertising campaign in Poland through Facebook. Vittori Swimwear is primary attended to get more men admirers as they are potential client. But it turned completely otherwise. More women noticed the advert , more women liked our facebook page. Some would say, men are lazy, they are intersted in other stuff, men are shy. Perhaps so. But still this result forced me to make a conclusion, women do take care what men wear. Women do observe, women do comment, women do make opinion. Men are observed. No matter, being at work wearing business suites or going to out wearing casual.

Also swimwear is important. I heard my step-mother, when we launched our first collection, talking to his husband, my step-father, to get proper beachwear. She didn’t want him to be like other men, wearing really improper swimwear with really awful and old-fashioned design.

So, dear men, it is important to look nice, even if you think it’s not. You are observed. Why not being observed wearing our swimwear ? Rocky Boxer

First Experience with Marketing Expert

Each manufacturer or seller who starts with a production thinks about how to sell his products. Most likely you can’t be an expert for all fields. If you are good in thinking and management you probably do not posses skills for the marketing.

Same happened with me when started company and manufacturing Men’s Swimwear. I covered the management, logistics, finance, other of our company were responsible for design, website. Everything was set up, idea that burned in our minds long time was finally born, fabric was bought, production started, website with online shop was on air.

My anniversary of graduation came on the way, old school-mates gathered as each and every year. One among them was also marketing expert. You know the feeling, when you are young and restless; you expect everything should be done quick and immediately. I came to my “school-mate=marketing expert”, described him my idea and who wouldn’t, I asked him for a help. He answered only with one sentence: “I do not work with start-up or with newly brands.”

Of course I was disappointed. What is real challenge, to make a growth of the product with annual turnover with about 1 mio EUR by let’s say 10-15% or start with something new from zero. Obviously for my school-mate Vittori Swimwear was not a challenge for him. And I realized that I need to find different way, be patient and finally rely on my own feelings and on my own work.

Today after couple of years of that moment, Vittori Swimwear is not anonymous brand anymore; we sell our swimwear to 3 continents, USA, Canada, Australia and many EU countries. Our customers are satisfied and we develop new models. _MG_0293

Vintage or what

What is Vintage really? According to the Wikipedia Vintage is Generally speaking, clothing which was produced before the 1920s is referred to as antique clothing and clothing from the 1920s to 20 years before the present day is considered vintage. Why sometimes on the fashion shows some very famous designers show their creation in vintage style?

Why sometimes when we see some creation or design our first thought would be “Oh, I have seen something like that before”? Because, it’s true. Humans have eyes, humans have memory, human have storage for billions of pictures called brain. Our memory is like a movie camera travelling through the time. Good example is driving a car. Pictures of landscape, trees, fields of crops, green, yellow, brown, variety of mixed colors. Everything is memorized. Even great paintings present the scenes from the nature or nearby and the painters weren’t just stand in their ateliers, some even didn’t have them actually, so they stood their easels outside and painted what they saw.

Pretty much is the same with the designers of all kinds. Some creations are close to our eyes some we think that’s not for me. I would do different, I would something different. ACTUM NE AGAS would say old Romans, what basically mean “Don’t create what’s already created”. And yes, at Vittori Swimwear we went to the shops, we looked up into the web shops to see what we could do different. And yes we questioned many persons, many men advised us what they wanted as their new swimwear. Is our collection or even one of them a vintage style? Perhaps. Honestly we generally only hear what has been worn in 50 or 80 years ago, but certainly we are curious and become nostalgic. That’s why vintage style is always successful. But on the other hand each designer want to make something different than other and still follow it’s own path. So are we.

 

Priceless & More

Remember the commercial clip from Mastercard where dad is taking his son to the football game ? It did touch me very much. I have never believed this happening is so very much true. Very long ago I took my son to the football game to San Siro Stadium in Milan (Italy). When I saw the expression on my son’s face when we stepped into this grandiose monument, Yes it was worth every penny. We had such great time, like it was promised in the commercial clip. Since then I repeated such tips many times, visiting games of local club, football (soccer), hockey, basketball and even snooker.

Those were the times, when I hadn’t enough courage to organize a trip such that one on my own. Now it’s different. Internet made everything easier. Tickets can be bought to every and each event. Last weekend was extended free weekend, so we decided to visit the game in Verona between Chievo and AC Fiorentina.

Verona is prox. 3 1/2 hours away from our home. One stop for marvelous cappuccino on the Highway Autogrill Service is another great experience. For me, the best coffee is prepared there. Stadium in Verona where Chievo is playing its home games is quiet big, can host 38.000 visitors. Italians do live for the football. Fans are singing in front of the gates before the game. Out of the stadium many shops offered variety of fan articles. But no swimwear.Vittori Swimwear offers one Slip for Chievo Fans called Desert Sand in the yellow&blue colors and one for the AC Fiorentina fans called Martinez in violet colors. Of course it would be very funny if you wear swimwear when attending the game, so I do not advise to do so. But on the beach, it would feel great for you fans, if you wear that small piece of fabric in the colors of your team.

The game itself was typical season’s game, honestly Fiorentina was better player almost 2/3 of the game, but the last 20 minutes Chievo could and should score, but luck wasn’t on their side. Game ended scoreless.

But for us it really didn’t matter. We had great time. On the way there, when we had coffee break, when we shared slices of tasty pizza in the restaurant. On the way home we talked really a lot, rescuing the world’s most difficult problems.

If you have a son, if you have a child, make this kind of trip together. It makes your day, it makes your life.

Perfect Man Is Just A Dream Or Not ?

Who is a perfect man ? I am a man and not consider myself being perfect. Recently I read two books describing perfect men. One is Grey from “50 Shades of Grey” by EL James and the other one is Gabe from “Rush” by Maya Banks. Both books are written by women. Both these men are described as perfect. Tall, very handsome, very rich, top managers and businessmen and young of course. Their bodies are similar to the bodies of ancient Greek heroes. They found very young women to pass along with them.

Going back to the writers of these two books : do they have perfect men already or just seek to have one ? I don’t know. And really doesn’t matter. But they are successful. They write what men and women love to read. They are perfect.

What is perfection for a man anyway ? Being rich, being handsome, being very tall, being very successful, having perfect smile, being charming, being loving partner, being loving father, being best chef ? All together or just few personal characteristics ?

At a dancing school of argentine tango there is a couple, where he is about 30 years older than his partner. He is rich, he is nice, he is a very good dancer. He provides her everything she wants. Is he like Grey or Gabe. I don’t think so. Oh, yes she is very attractive and about 25 years old. In her eyes, he must be perfect. But is he really perfect ? I don’t know, because I don’t live with him each and every moment.

Husband of my wife’s cousin is very handy man. He can fix everything, he is a perfect chef, his fish and barbecue are marvelous. He serves his wife everything she asks. But he is not rich. Is he perfect ? With such so many skills I do not possess, he is almost perfect.

My ex school-friend is not handsome. But he is quiet rich, always on top manger’s positions, powerful person. He’s rarely at home, his business is everything. Is he perfect ? Most likely.

My neighbor is talented person. His debates when barbecueing are to sit down and listen very carefully. He knows everything. His debates are powerfull. But he smokes and drinks too much, he doesn’t worry about tomorrow. Is he perfect ? Maybe.

Many men can be perfect if they have something other men only seek. But if they are really perfect, other men don’t really know, because other men are not with that “perfect man” each and every second. Is finding a perfect man a dream or not ? Every man can be perfect if you find positive characteristics in his skills or in his ideas. Supporting and encouraging him is most important.

Going back to me. I mentioned I am not considering myself being perfect. But I have some skills that other won’t even hear about them. Good in logistics, I have three loving children, loving wife, I am a man who stands behind Vittori Swimwear, and I can even write a blog for Vittori Swimwear. Not to forget I can dance argentine tango and I am not scared to attend milonga anymore.

Elegance and Swimwear

I worked in several companies where dress code was as written rule. Very formal 4 days a week and Friday was a casual day. Many meetings were held on quite high level. Important persons were present, so we had white shirts, suits as dark as possible and ties that matched the suits. Women participants had more options, as always. Be it as trousers + blouse + jacket or skirt + blouse + jacket. Usually over 30 people were attended on those meetings, especially on Monday mornings when previous week activities were discussed and plan for common week were presented. As so many people were involved in debate, sometimes I had opportunity to observe how men were dressed. Half of them with black suits, tie with angled stripes and white shirt as mentioned before. I was little bit younger as I am today so I had taken some risk and wore some different ties, with motive with planes, snoopies, bikes, rewards, clocks, elephants, bees and even strawberries.

I had adequate suits so the patterns match the ties. I must confess I felt very “casual” wearing such kind of ties. I was noticed.

Of course there were also some very important meetings with presence of secretaries of state, members of their cabinets and other important men and women. There I couldn’t wear such “funny” ties, I needed to pick more serious ties.

On our last visit to Fabric Stock in Noventa di Piave (Italy) I saw beautiful fabric very elegant pattern, black fabric with vertical stripes. Perfect for men who seek elegance even when having holidays. Our model called “Elegance” was born. But our swimwear wouldn’t be so simple as looks at first sight. To create contrasts we reverse the fabric on the waist part.

 

Tango and Men’s Swimwear

I dance Tango with my wife, now almost 3 years. Week after week we have been attending tango lessons. Every Sunday evening, except summer weeks. Last summer our school-mate-dancers persuaded us to go to Mediterranean Tango Summer Festival. Are we capable enough ? Do we have enough courage ? We hadn’t really had any thoughts but to go, so nice words about this Festival had been told. It had to be something. We even had reserved the tickets for two consecutive milongas.

Actually we had danced at couple of milongas organized by our tango-school, not many other dancers had come and we had felt quiet comfortable. So, first night milonga at the Festival, the Hall entrance door had opened at 10pm. We are usually very punctual, so shortly after 10 pm we had entered the Hall. If we hadn’t heard the tango music, we would have thoughts it couldn’t be the right place. Only few couples had been inside. To dance or not to dance. We had waited one tanda and another one. First couples had come to the dance floor. Wow, what performances. Though my legs had been shaky, my heartbeat had gone up to 200/min, I had invited my wife to the dance floor. Would other dancers notice my nervousness, I had heard questions in my head. I must admit now, my Boss Bottle fragrance had done its job, otherwise my shirt would break out in a sweat. First step, then the second one, only basics for the first dance. To break the ice. Yes, I had made it. I had turned around to the dancers that had waited for the next dance. Nobody had been gazing at us. Either they had been seeking dance partners shooting their eye contact around other available dancers or had had most likely pretty much the same problems as myself. Slow breath out and next music, Dj, please. We had enjoyed every moment very much. When we had driven back to our hotel we had laughed at ourselves for being so scared. You just have to relax and enjoy.

Pretty much the same is with our men’s swimwear. We have put an idea into ordinary slip and trunk model by inserting push up pad. When we presented our idea to our first potential customers, their first thought was: what would others say if they saw us in your swimwear ? Nothing we answered, just try them and spend a day on the beach or by the pool. If anything happens you can return them freely. And indeed nothing happened, they were satisfied, finally got swimwear they could rely on no matter being in warm or cold water. Wearing Vittori Swimwear is almost dancing tango at milonga. VITTORI IS TRENDY

At Vittori Swimwear team I am great football fans. Always checking TV schedules and searching for live coverage of football matches. Daily and weekly in advance. But when the time comes, when the game should begin, I always hear the voices “again football, do we really need to watch this play?” As you probably guessed, those voices are from my wife and my daughter. At home we have only one TV set,in living room. Basic idea was, the family should stay together, not separated in several rooms, each of them watching different channel. Final result, females win. For the holy peace I quit, my sons go to their rooms turning on their computers. We are separated no matter of good basic idea. But this is not the point I am going to write about. Colours of the football shoes is my topic and comparing them to the swimwear. I remember the late 70’s and 80’s when I watched footbal matches with my dad. At that time there were no such complete coverage of the championships. Very few information leaked from the squads and their background team. Even commentators were very short with backyard news. When one team played bad or under our expactations we asked ourselves why. Especially with teams from small countries or so called outsiders there were things which ruined their strength and unity. The bigger ones knew how to did it. They started with the shoes. Each team had a contract with one supplier. But in our team there were always few unsatisfied players who hadn’t got vital role. They were easily target of rival supplier. At the sudden moment those unsatisfied players had problems with their left third shoe-finger, so they needed shoes from rival supplier in order not to be injured before the game even started. The result, our team lost, because the unity of the team was broken, the heads of the players weren’t focused to the match. Now-a-day everything is different. Having united colours or even the same brand of the foootball shoes is obviously not obligatory. Before the match or when the play stops, TV cameras offer us interesting shots of football shoes. Colours and designs are different, even left shoe is from differnt supplier as the right one. 10 or 20 years ago we couldn’t imagine anything other colour then black or white with the brand logo. Today is different. Yellow, purple, green, violet, light blue you name it.Very strong influence on what is today normal have different media. More respect more tollerancy. I agree it should be so, it must be so. Just imagine if for instance Paolo Rossi would appear in purple/yellow football shoes in 80′ he would be clarified as at least not normal. There were impacts that made evolution on what is normal, the line between women’s colours and men’s colours today practically doesn’t exist.
