SELLING SWIMWEAR

Last few month countries all around there is under serious pressure. Epidemy of new Coronavirus is spreading to every corner of our planet. We all are fighting against this invisible attacker. Being affraid that it will not enter into our houses or harm anyone of our dearest.

Ok, it’s May already, even in our country we can go normal shopping without restrictions. Wearing a face mask is not any particular restriction, more unconvenient measure. But last few months all stores, except those with food, were closed. Online shopping went very popular; all online stores were full of new orders. Even Etsy reported that online sells grew up to 30% in first Quarter of 2020.

Yes, I did online shopping in last few months, but what did I buy actually. Plants, shower gels, shampoos etc.

Clothes? No.

Things for holidays? No.

Things for jogging? No.

Underwear? Yes.

Things for in-house entertaining? Yes.

Swimwear? No. Why is that? Do we know whether we could go on holidays? Not sure. I did cancel some reservations for coming summer, because of travel restrictions.

Our shop sells Men’s Swimwear, so we are in the category “non-necessary products”. But we will survive. We are still alive and ready for the moment when restrictions will be cancelled.

I expected much more

from Facebook. I am going to describe my experience with advertising our shop and our items on Facebook. Promoted this social media as a big family, millions of fans waiting for items, waiting for promotions, waiting for shopping. But it wasn’t so. Yes, most likely our shop/page was promoted, but result was pure. Few new friends, few new fans, but far away from selling even one item through Facebook. Not one.

Facebook is obviously a media for promoting people with selfies, promoting people who only wait to be seen and to face the reactions for what they publish.

Yeah, you look great, what a fantastic body, so cute, you name what they’ve got. This is Facebook is really meant to be, for getting attention.

I have published promotion on Facebook every single week, sometimes even twice a week, promoting our shop on etsy.com and got only 1% of all visits. Single 1% from Facebook.

Yes, I will publish stories on Facebook, but I won’t spend single EUR for extra promotion, because it’s worth it.

My point of view. Period. Oh, yes, we are producing men’s swimwear. Regular swimwear, without anykind of suggestion to xxx or sex, just swimwear for ordinary men. And yes we got customers from all over the world, but not through Facebook. Maybe it will change, maybe.

How many swimsuits do you own ?

I’ve seen this question somewhere on internet. Really how many ? Further question, is the amount of swimsuits in the closet same for men and women ?

From my point of view and as far as I could see in the closet of my wife – the answer is NO. Men definitely have less swimsuits the women.

I can show you mine :

Thunder and Balcony 

Only two for men and much more for women.

Women are definitely different. As much as possible I hear them. Only space in the backpack of the car or the weight of the baggage is the limit. Beside other clothes of course.

Nothing wrong with that of course. Men like to observe women in their swimsuits. We even love them. So as much as possible, please,  women, take them with you, wherever you go.

 

 

New Customers or Returning Customer ?

What kind of customer makes a seller happier ? Question states !

Selling online is difficult, not an easy task. Only pictures, photos and text are available to show all positive sides about the selling product. Buyer is a king. Always. Buyer is looking for a product that he needs.

Buyer wants to buy online. Searching online what’s available. Comes to your online store. Match !

OK, he (since we sell men’s swimwear, we persume, men are most interested custiomers, but it is not always so – more in next article) needs swimwear, brief or boxer type. We offer exactly that. Match !

Colours ? We offer variety of colours, from ordinary blue and black to yellow and white. Match !

Price ? We are in the middle, not cheap and not expensive. Match !

Shipping ? Free shipping. Match !

We are satisfied to gain new customer. Match !

Did we meet customers needs indeed ? Yes ? Then this is satisfied customer. Our most loved one. He will tell his friend about us, he will probably visit our online store again. Returning customer. Most wanted. Super Match !

Aren’t Swimsuits all for swimming?

This really isn’t a joke, what I will write in today’s chapter.

We all believe that swimsuits are supposed to be made for swimming. It should be so. But … One of our customers first bought in a supermarket a pair of swimsuit, he was going to spend a week in a spa. Indoor spa. He picked up a piece nicelooking boxer. And went to deserved holiday.

After having few visits to the pool, stitches on the waist of his swimsuit broke, fabric wasn’t so blue as it was when bringing them from the shop. After a week he couldn’t believe what left of his brand new swimsuit. A piece of fabric that couldn’t barely be named as a swimsuit.

He returned home and straight to the supermarket claiming bad quality of the swimsuit. Shop assistant stopped him : “Sir, didn’t you know, this swimsuit is not for swimming?”

“What is made for, then ?” he asked.

“Only for hanging around the pool.”

“What about the guaranty ?”

“Sorry, Sir, only if returned unused.”

So, he came to our shop, we gladly gave him our “Margarita”

After a week he came back smiling, “I am satisfied with your Margarita”. And then he bought one piece one more. Remember Vittori Swimwear is for swimming, as well.

Observing Or Being Observed

Always questionable ? Are being men also observed as they observe women ? Do men notice that they are being observe ? Last week Vittori Swimwear started advertising campaign in Poland through Facebook. Vittori Swimwear is primary attended to get more men admirers as they are potential client. But it turned completely otherwise. More women noticed the advert , more women liked our facebook page. Some would say, men are lazy, they are intersted in other stuff, men are shy. Perhaps so. But still this result forced me to make a conclusion, women do take care what men wear. Women do observe, women do comment, women do make opinion. Men are observed. No matter, being at work wearing business suites or going to out wearing casual.

Also swimwear is important. I heard my step-mother, when we launched our first collection, talking to his husband, my step-father, to get proper beachwear. She didn’t want him to be like other men, wearing really improper swimwear with really awful and old-fashioned design.

So, dear men, it is important to look nice, even if you think it’s not. You are observed. Why not being observed wearing our swimwear ? Rocky Boxer

Vintage or what

What is Vintage really? According to the Wikipedia Vintage is Generally speaking, clothing which was produced before the 1920s is referred to as antique clothing and clothing from the 1920s to 20 years before the present day is considered vintage. Why sometimes on the fashion shows some very famous designers show their creation in vintage style?

Why sometimes when we see some creation or design our first thought would be “Oh, I have seen something like that before”? Because, it’s true. Humans have eyes, humans have memory, human have storage for billions of pictures called brain. Our memory is like a movie camera travelling through the time. Good example is driving a car. Pictures of landscape, trees, fields of crops, green, yellow, brown, variety of mixed colors. Everything is memorized. Even great paintings present the scenes from the nature or nearby and the painters weren’t just stand in their ateliers, some even didn’t have them actually, so they stood their easels outside and painted what they saw.

Pretty much is the same with the designers of all kinds. Some creations are close to our eyes some we think that’s not for me. I would do different, I would something different. ACTUM NE AGAS would say old Romans, what basically mean “Don’t create what’s already created”. And yes, at Vittori Swimwear we went to the shops, we looked up into the web shops to see what we could do different. And yes we questioned many persons, many men advised us what they wanted as their new swimwear. Is our collection or even one of them a vintage style? Perhaps. Honestly we generally only hear what has been worn in 50 or 80 years ago, but certainly we are curious and become nostalgic. That’s why vintage style is always successful. But on the other hand each designer want to make something different than other and still follow it’s own path. So are we.
